It’s design was structured so well, it soon became the model for Personal and Commercial Property Insurance for all other states. In California, the policy is referred to as the California Standard Form Fire Policy.
The New York legislature responded by placing prohibitions on the holding of common stock, limiting the amount of new insurance any company could issue in a given year, and banning deferred-dividend policies — a MONY mainstay. In the wake of the investigation, MONY switched to more conservative investing and marketing policies. Standard Fire Policy (SFP) Jurisdictions — jurisdictions that have laws requiring that all property policies provide coverage that is at least equivalent to that provided by a standard fire policy. Some SFP states also impose this requirement on commercial inland marine (CIM) policies, whereas other SFP states do not.
